Free-standing or rackmount units incorporating Sifam Peak Programme Meters. Refer to Sifam PPM entry for detailed meter descriptions.



This range of boxed PPMs utilise mild steel enclosures to provide effective screening when used in proximity to colour monitors or VDUs. Care should still be exercised however when used in extremely close proximity to colour screens as some stray magnetic field may be present around the visible meter glass aperture.



Most versions incorporate overload LEDs to indicate the presence of signals which exceed a preset threshold (factory set at +8dBu). Stereo versions incorporate a switch to select the M (sum) level. “IND” setting will display an M level of 0dBu when 0dBu signals are present on both of the A and B inputs. “BBC” setting will display an M level of +3dBu when 0dBu signals are present on both the A and B inputs.



To allow the meters to be used in-line, input connectors have corresponding loop-out connectors wired in parallel. All types are illuminated using appropriate LED illumination kits.

Southern California Audio Post Facility AudioVision Upgrades To Fairlights Constellation XCS Console Audio post production facility AudioVision has placed an order for a three-bay Fairlight Constellation XCS console. This will be installed into a custom-built frame that is currently being constructed by AudioVisions owner, Bill Trousdale.

Based in Orange County, AudioVision was established in 1989 by Trousdale who has more than 35 years experience in the pro audio industry. The facility is equipped to a very high specification, particularly in regards to acoustic isolation and overall sonic purity. All of its audio recording systems are Fairlight, which Trousdale chose because they offer the speed, stability and audio quality that his clients demand.

Steiwer TV Chooses DK-Technologies PT0710M Waveform Monitor For Its new HD SNG Vehicle Audio and video metering company DK-Technologies has supplied a PT0710M waveform monitor to German company Steiwer TV, which is installing the unit in a new High Definition SNG vehicle.

Established in 2003, Steiwer TV offers SNG services to some of Germanys largest broadcasters including NDR Hamburg, WDR, ARD, ZDF, N24 and EBU. Its primary focus is local television programming, but it has also undertaken sports broadcast projects including the 2004 Olympics in Athens and Champions League football for Sat1.

rtw touchmonitor RTW, a leading manufacturer and distributor of professional audio metering and control devices, will be giving international broadcasters at this year’s IBC 2010 (Stand 8.E76) an advance look at its innovative new TouchMonitor series.
 
TouchMonitor is a new range of products that RTW developed, from the ground up, which is sure to set new standards in professional audio metering. The two TouchMonitor versions, scheduled to ship by the end of 2010, include the TM7 featuring a 7" touch screen and the TM9 with a 9" touch screen. Both units combine unprecedented flexibility and modularity with an intuitive user interface. A limited number of TouchMonitor units are scheduled to begin shipping in December, with full production continuing early next year.

Calrec Consoles In The Premier League Again

calrec Calrec Audio, UK manufacturer of high-definition audio mixing consoles, is supplying three Omega desks to the world’s premier sports entertainment and media company IMG. All three desks will be installed at IMG’s studios in Chiswick, West London; the first two (32-fader) desks are destined to mix audio on coverage of Premiership football matches, which IMG has recently won a three-year contract to distribute internationally on behalf of the Premier League. The third console, a 40-fader Omega, will see use on the Premier League’s new 24-hour high-definition content service, which IMG is again transmitting on behalf of the League and which launches towards the end of August.
 
“We had to buy an audio console for the new channel, as that includes surround sound content, and we took the opportunity to replace the consoles that look after the core distribution contract,” explains Richard Allingham, IMG’s Chief Engineer in the UK. “We had three other desks in for trials, but in the end we settled on the Calrec Omegas very quickly, by asking our audio engineers which ones they would find easiest to use — and the Calrecs won the vote. I’m very pleased, as I’ve always found Calrec’s consoles user-friendly and their engineering to a very high standard.”
 
The new Omega consoles were delivered in July, and will go into service in Chiswick in mid-August.

abbey road control room Abbey Road Studios, one of the world's longest-established and most highly respected recording companies, has taken delivery of four NTP DAD AX24 eight-channel ultra-high-quality analogue-to-digital/digital-to-analogue audio signal converters. All four will be deployed during recording sessions as microphone preamplifiers and analogue-to-MADI interfaces. They will be operated in conjunction with Abbey Road's Pyramix digital audio workstations. Two of the units are additionally fitted with the IO192-PHD interface card allowing them to work with Avid Protools.
