PANASONIC ANNOUNCES AJ-HPX3100 P2 HD CAMCORDER

hpx3100 Panasonic will launch the AJ-HPX3100, a compact shoulder mounted HD camcorder featuring P2 solid-state memory card recording, in October 2010.

 
The AJ-HPX3100 offers high image quality and performance for high-end video production, incorporating a 2.2 megapixel, 2/3, type CCD image sensor (3CCD) and the latest AVC-Intra Codec for broadcasting (compatible with MPEG-4 AVC/H.264).
 
The camcorder supports multi-format HD capability as well as SD, DVCPRO50, DVCPRO and DV recording. The AVC-Intra 100 codec records high-quality images using 10 bit/4:2:2 sampling and also supports high-quality 24 bit audio recording whilst in AVC-Intra mode. The camera also offers a Chromatic Aberration Compensation (CAC) function to compensate variations in the lens and Dynamic Range Stretch (DRS) which suppresses blocked shadows and blown highlights.
 
The AJ-HPX3100 offers a number of improvements over its predecessor; a newly designed compact and lightweight body provides a low centre of gravity ensuring an unobstructed view for the camera operator. It is 3.9kg (8.6 lb) lighter than the previous model, offering the camera person enhanced mobility. The camera also consumes around 23% less power than conventional 2/3 3CCD camcorders.
 
The camcorder has two easily accessible slots for reusable P2 solid-state memory cards which offer up to 64 GB capacity and a high data transfer speed. The new camera also includes a range of functionality to improve workflow including wireless metadata input capability and a new video encoder board capable of proxy recording supporting Apple’s Final Cut Pro editing system.
 
The AJ-HPX3100G will be showcased at the BIRTV 2010 exhibition in Beijing, China between August 23 to 26 and will also be on the Panasonic stand #11.E60 at IBC from September 10th.

New PAG Snap-on L95e Budget Broadcast Battery

PAG, the camera power and lighting specialist, has introduced a new version of its budget broadcast battery, the PAG L95e. The 95 watt-hour Li-Ion battery is compatible with Anton-Bauer chargers and camera mounts.

 

The PAG L95e (Model 9310A) is a 14.8V 6.5Ah battery that has a maximum continuous output current rated at 7 amps. It has been designed as a high-quality, low-cost replacement for the Anton-Bauer Dionic 90, and is directly compatible with cameras that incorporate the Anton-Bauer battery mount. The significant advantage of the new PAG L95e is that it can be charged using existing stocks of Anton-Bauer Li-Ion compatible chargers. There is no need to replace chargers or purchase additional charge adaptors, enabling the switching of battery systems to be simple and economic.

friendly fire sadie Live F.O.H mix engineer Richard Barling used a SADiE LRX2 location audio workstation on the recent three-week Friendly Fires tour of the United States.
 
“The LRX2 performed very well,” Barling says. “I used it to both multitrack record the shows and ‘virtual soundcheck’ at soundcheck time. We ran 28 channels from stage, four lines of music and intro at F.O.H and two audience mics. In total, we recorded 36 channels every night via the two fibre optic MADI cables linked to a Soundcraft Vi6 local rack with MADI outs and one wordclock cable. The audio sounded great.”

All DC cables are reverse wired for nanoFlash use only. Configuration options include 4-Pin Hirose(M) to; 4-Pin Hirose(M), 2-Pin D-Tap or 4-Pin XLR. Nano compatible BNC cables are manufactured to HD 3G standard and available in variety of lengths.

Singapore recently upgraded its in-house sound system with a Soundcraft Si2 console to easily manage all entertainment from background music to multiple live bands each night, keeping tourists, locals, musicians and celebrities continuously coming back for more.

HRC Singapore was the first HRC to open in Asia more than 20 years ago.  The first mixing console in use when it first opened was the Soundcraft Spirit Live.  It was subsequently replaced by a Soundcraft Delta and a Soundcraft Series 8000 32 channel that was in use for more than 10 years.  

With a history of bringing the best in entertainment to its customers, the management and technical crew at HRC Singapore decided to replace its older Soundcraft Series 8000 console with the Soundcraft Si2. “It always comes down to the overall experience with our patrons, so we decided to concentrate on making the music really stand out.  We have been using Soundcraft consoles from Day One and are very happy with their quality, sound and reliability” “With the Si2, our system has performed flawlessly and sounds great,” says Irwan Snin, Front of House Engineer.

Supplied and installed by Electronics & Engineering (E&E) PTE LTD in Singapore, the Si2 continues to provide quality sound to Hard Rock Caf fans every day. Established in 1951, E&E is one of Singapore’s leading A/V specialty contractors, and has represented Soundcraft for more than 20 years.

Gary Goh, Director of E&E stated, “The user-friendliness of the board was the top selling point in our work with Hard Rock. The digital console was perfect for a mid-sized venue like this one. There is no doubt that the Si2 has made musical operations run much more smoothly at the Hard Rock.”
