Two years ago it was assumed that DSLR cameras would eventually capture HD video. So when camera manufacturers launched the first generation with moving image capture, it was no big surprise. The target audience the marketing spoke of was the paparazzi. This seemed to make complete sense. One year on and this laissez-faire attitude to DSLR video has been stopped dead in its tracks. The DSLR has arrived in the production community with a bang and made an impact that it could never have dreamt of with prize-winning DOPs and cinematographers shooting beautiful films on DSLRs.

Panchro lenses are among the only professional lenses designed exclusively for motion picture capture that cover the new RED Epic S35 format. The RED Epic S35 is configured for lightweight 5K cine application, making the reduced size Panchro an ideal accompanying lens. Polecam embraces 3D HD at NAB

Responding to rapidly increasing demand for 3D HD video content, Polecam announces that its 3D-Narrow pan and tilt head is to be supplied as standard with all new systems, with the option of choosing the new 3D-Wide head.

"The 3D-Narrow pan and tilt head allows extremely realistic stereoscopic content to be produced from mini HD cameras positioned side by side on a Polecam jib," comments Polecam founder and Managing Director Steffan Hewitt. "From NAB 2010 onward, the standard pan and tilt head sold with Polecam systems will be capable of holding a 3D camera pair. The Polecam 3D-Narrow head attaches directly to all standard Polecam rigs. It is optimised for normal studio shooting and close-ups where it is desirable to match normal human eye spacing. A levelling plate with three fine-adjustment verniers allows each camera to be exactly matched in height and forward angle. Setup is quick and easy, conforming with Polecam's strategy of ensuring high mobility and operational efficiency."

Wireless HDMI solves a lot of hard to reach installation issues and TV One now offers the new 1T-CT-690 Wireless Extender Series as a solution to demanding system designs.

The 1T-CT-690 Series Wireless HDMI Extender consists of the 1T-CT-691 Transmitter and 1T-CT-692 Receiver, which constitutes a system to transmit HDMI v1.2 signals plus embedded lossless audio. The system achieves a maximum distance of 20m (65 feet) in open field conditions, or shorter distances through walls and other obstructions.
