| Why was it needed and what did it replace: | Kitroom Monkey runs a small friendly kit hire company and it is vital to keep up to date with current camera trends and updates. | What other systems did you consider? | In purchasing new cameras for rental we always have to go with user demand. It is never wise to assume a certain camera will become the market leader as end users have their foibles and needs and at this end of the market there are many cameras to choose |
| Why did you choose it? | In choosing the V1E, we were looking for the next step in HDV.This cameraOffers a 25p chip set which is better than the Z1E which didn¢¢t.Is able to offer time lapse function ¢ which was left off the Z1E.Has the new CMOS sensors ¢ apparently better |
| Did you buy new or used - if new did you consider used / visa versa? | It had to be new, as it has only just been released. I am happy to buy used but as ever head hours are vital. If this camera proves to be the workhorse that the PD150 was ¢ the V1E should be a great buy |
| Who did you buy it from (direct from manufacturer or through a dealer)? | I always buy my new equipment direct from TopTeks in Harefield. In looking for an equipment dealer, we always consider cost, friendliness and availability. There are some great companies out there but our relationship is with TopTeks and its great team. |
| What price did you pay? | Rather not say what price paid ¢ as TopTeks offers some great deals to loyal customers ! |
| Were you happy with the sales service? | Covered above really, always very happy with TopTeks.I buy from other sources too, but must always feel comfortable when buying and spending so much money. One must always feel you are getting the most accurate info and advice from the people selling. I |
| What major projects have you used it (or plan to use it) for? | With another series of Scrapheap Challenge coming up ¢ we hope to put our new fleet of V1Es into service on that.Being able to offer HDV footage from within the vehicles will much improve the image quality from the usual shaky mini DV footage.Watch th |
| Does it perform as expected? | |
| Pro's: | This camera is back to a good size for hand held work ¢ the Z1 being a little heavy and awkward not to be shoulder mounted.Having the functionality of 25p ¢ it gives a better look for those trying to acquire the ¢film like¢¢ look. The CMOS sensors are |
| Con's: | Still a fixed lens set on the front of the camera.Viewfinder is back to the side of the camera ¢ was better on the top over the lens.We are all still waiting for a DSR450 sized camera that can offer HDV shooting !!! |
| What would your brief summary be on this product? | To sum up, we are very excited about the new Sony V1E camera and are hoping it will be a great addition to the HDV market place and help raise standards whilst prices come down.We are looking forward to using it in the coming months and will be happy to |
